The Calgary Folk Arts Council was established in 1975 as the coordinating body for the diverse ethnic communities that came into being part of the Calgary scene. Our mission statement reflects, promotes and preserves and brings an awareness, where we can have an understanding, respect and appreciation for the cultural diversity through artistic activities and folkloric arts.
The Calgary Folk Arts Council works with and hosts a number of events throughout the city. Calgary Heritage Day Festival is an annual event, and you can find information about it by checking the Events page or visiting our Facebook page. This year will be the Calgary Folk Arts Council’s 49th year in presenting the Annual Heritage Day Festival. It will be held at the Eau Claire Plaza.
The aim of the events we organize and participate in is to celebrate the diversity of performing arts and revel in their universality, as well as to cross all political and ethnic barriers and bring people together in peace and friendship with a common language - DANCE.
